This is a Winter seasonal position and will start on November 19th.
Must be available weekends and holidays, 4 to 5 shifts per week.

Under the direction of the Director of Camp Snowbird.
Responsible for the care of children age six weeks to twelve years in winter, and age 5 years to 12 years in summer during summer camp.
Involved in overall care of the children. Some introduction to indoor and outdoor skiing skills may be required during winter months.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

Responsible for managing camp schedule and protocols for childcare.
Maintain the cleanliness of the environment at Camp.
Feed, change, and supervise children which includes: dressing/undressing, making sure all personal items are accounted for, and diaper changes.
Responsible for keeping daily records for each child and discussing with parents.
Responsible for keeping children engaged, active, and enjoying their time at camp.
Manage risk when outdoors or inside.
Manage personal behavior to show enjoyment with children.

Interactions

Contact with guests.
Contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
0-6 months of involvement with a Day Care program or Home Care experience.

Specific Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Requires submission to a criminal background check and fingerprints.
Food Handlers Permit and CPR & First Aid Certification.

Skills & Knowledge

Technical:
Uses childrens toys to entertain, arts and crafts supplies, cleaning supplies and commercial vacuum.
Must be able to stay calm and positive during stressful situations.
During summer camp must use radio for communication.
Some computer skills a plus.

Administrative:
Must self-direct within given job parameters or offer routine guidance to others in equivalent position.

Working Conditions

Work Schedule:
Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
Specific Shift: 8:00am to 5:00pm any day of the week depending on business levels.

Mental:

Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Work may be outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.

Other/Additional: Duties frequently complicated by situations impossible to predict and from dealing with children from different backgrounds and temperaments.
